Nickel
finishes are commonly used in marine, automotive and motorcycle
components as well as medical fixtures, appliances, hardware,
and plumbing parts. Our operations include both hoist and
rack plating lines to finish a broad range of ferrous substrates,
as well as brass and copper. Leonhardt offers four electrolytic
nickel finishes: |
Bright
Nickel
A
mirror-bright finish with excellent corrosion prevention, bright
nickel has excellent ductility and leveling characteristics. This
deposit can be made brilliant and, when covered by a thin layer of
decorative chrome, will maintain its brilliance even under severe
conditions.
Satin
Nickel
Also,
providing excellent corrosion prevention, this finish is plated with
a bright nickel deposit and mechanically polished.
Dual
Nickel
This sulfur-free deposit is extremely
ductile and produces low stress with exceptional leveling characteristics.
The combination of plating a semi-bright nickel layer followed by
a bright nickel layer is called "dual or duplex" nickel,
with the semi-bright nickel layer providing extra resistance to
corrosion.
Watt's
Nickel
This
sulfate deposit causes lower internal stress and is less brittle.
Watt’s nickel is applied to stainless steel.
